What is a Personal Trainer?
A Personal Trainer is not someone you see for a one-off session. There has to be some form of monitoring, evaluation and progressiveness to the training. A Personal Trainer will have:
- Recognised qualifications and insurance
- A First Aid qualification
- Experience of working with a broad range of clients
- Membership of the Register of Exercise Professionals
- Memberships of other leisure industry organisations
They will also:
- Be good communicators and motivators
- Put your needs first
- Provide help and guidance
- receive fitness updates and skills training through attending regular courses and reading of relevant material
A good Personal Trainer will expect you to satisfy yourself on the above before parting with any money by providing a free consultation and health check.
