 Kyle
Kyle came to me with the specific goal of joining the Royal Marines. He had been to one of their open days and completed an initial fitness training assessment.
Kyle is younger than most other potential recruits and though he was able to complete most of the fitness tests set him his training officer wanted him to be able to surpass the basic entry limits. Kyle worked very hard with me over the next 3 months. He trained 3 days with me and 3 on his own with 1 day's rest. He subsequently completed the entry fitness test to his training officer's satisfaction and is now undergoing his full Royal Marine training

 Sophia
Sophia wanted to join the Police Force but was struggling with the fitness test. In particular the 'Bleep' test. A programme was developed to increase strength and cardiovascular endurance.
Working together, sometimes in the gym and sometimes outside, Sophia's fitness level soon improved and she passed her tests with an award for the most improved cadet. Sophia has now realised her goals and is now a fully trained officer in Swindon.

 Marlborough Running Club
A group of runners from the Club wanted to give themselves a specifically hard run to train for. They choose the 'Coast to Coast' which is a 190 mile route from St Bees on the west coast in Cumbria to Robin Hoods Bay on the east coast in Yorkshire. The route crosses the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, and North Yorkshire Moors. It includes a lot of rough ground and around 15,000 feet of ascent. The club also decided to tackle it in 7 days - making it an average of a marathon each day! Training for this type of event is substantial . Any type of injury can ruin the training and the greatest worry is of either not completing enough specific training or of an over-use injury. It is a constant balancing job. Leg strength, particularly the knee area is crucial. The group finished their run in the target time and apart from a few sore legs have suffered no lasting injuries. They are now planning their next adventure...
